Xpeng has announced that the MONA M03 will arrive in Chinese dealerships on August 1. Xpeng’s CEO, He Xiaopeng, made this announcement at the Xpeng’s AI Intelligent Driving Technology Conference on July 30. He also encouraged auto enthususiats to visit the automaker’s stores and have a feel of the new vehicle. Although pricing has not been announced, there are speculations that the Mona M03 will have a price range of 129,800 yuan – 159,800 yuan ( ($17,900 – $22,000).
The M03, jointly developed by Didi and Xpeng, is a pure electric compact sedan that measures 4780/1896/1445 mm in length, width, and height, with a 2815 mm wheelbase. With a drag coefficient of 0.194 cd, the M03 is set to displace BYD’s YangWang U6 (0.195 cd) as the most aerodynamic electric sedan in the world. Xpeng’s new EV will also surpass the Tesla Model S Plaid (0.208 cd), the Mercedes-Benz EQS (0.20 cd), and the Lucid Air (0.20 cd). The Mona M03 will be powered by single electric motors producing either 140 kW or 160 kW and comes with a 621-liter trunk.
Also, at the Xpeng AI Intelligent Driving Technology Conference, Xiaopeng announced its new S5 ultra-fast charging stations. The new 800 kW liquid-cooled charging station is compatible with multiple charging platforms, has a max power configuration of 960 kW, and offers a 1km per second charging rate. The current S4 charging piles boast a peak charging power of 400 kW and can juice up EVs to 200 km in just five minutes. According to Xiaopeng, the automaker plans to build 10,000 self-operated charging stations and 4,500 liquid-cooled super-fast charging stations by 2026
