Geely Galaxy E5 Exterior
The Galaxy E5 is available in two range versions, 440 and 530 km, and will be the first Geely model simultaneously developed for both foreign and Chinese markets. Built on the GEEA 3.0 platform, the E5 uses cell-to-body integration (CTB), with the front and rear axle load ratio reaching a 50:50 ratio. For dimensions, the E5 measures 4615/1901/1670 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a 2750 mm wheelbase. Geely claims the car has a class-leading drag coefficient of 0.269 Cd, achieved through over 20 design tweaks.
Geely Galaxy E5 Interior
Inside, the Geely Galaxy E5 sports an LCD instrument screen in addition to a driver’s head-up display. There’s also a floating central infotainment screen powered by a built-in Flyme Auto car system and the locally-produced 7 nm chip Dragon Eagle-1 chip. The flat-bottomed steering wheels hold some function buttons and knobs. Galaxy E5 models will also come with a 16-speaker sound system, with some head-mounted speakers.
Geely Galaxy E5 Performance
Geely employs its in-house Aegis short-blade iron phosphate batteries in the E5. Batteries are available in 49.52 and 60.22 kWh versions with up to 440 and 530 km (CLTC) ranges, respectively. The Geely Galaxy 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive motor motivates the car, coughing up 160 kW of power. Weighing only 79.8kg, the E5 has a consumption rate of 11.9 kWh per 100 km.
It is also equipped with Geely’s self-developed G-TCS all-weather drive anti-skid system, which can control the torque output of the electric drive based on the road adhesion coefficient and always maintain the best road adhesion. The E5 needs 6.9 seconds to go from rest to 100 km/h, and the top speed is pegged at 180 km/h.
Chinese customers can now start placing orders for the E5 on the Geely Galaxy app, WeChat, and the company’s website. At 123,000 – 157,000 yuan ($17,000 – $21,790), the Galaxy E5 is a bit cheaper than what many expected, but prices for international models have not been announced yet.
