Jetour has officially launched its latest offering, the Jetour Freedom. This new compact SUV is targeted at both urban adventurers and off-road enthusiasts. Positioned as the fuel-powered counterpart to the Shanhai T1, the Freedom comes in five variants, priced between 124,900 yuan and 154,900 yuan ($17,200 – $21,400). The new model joins the Jetour Traveler to strengthen the brand’s presence in the Chinese compact SUV market.

As a subsidiary of Chery, Jetour operates under two primary product lines: Jetour and Jetour Shanhai. The latter is further divided into the Shanhai T and Shanhai L series. The Jetour Freedom, known as the Jetour T1 in Saudi Arabia, is positioned as the gasoline-powered counterpart to the Jetour Shanhai T1, blending rugged off-road capabilities with modern design and technology. Earlier in February, Chery officially launched its Jetour Freedom SUV to the Saudi Arabian market under the name Jetour T1.
Jetour Freedom Exterior and Design

The Jetour Freedom retains the boxy, off-road-inspired silhouette of the Shanhai T1 but introduces softer curves and a more refined aesthetic. The front grille features the bold “JETOUR” logo, while the distinctive four-leaf clover headlight design enhances visibility with a high-beam range of 185 meters. The SUV is available in six eye-catching paint colors.
On the side, the Freedom boasts large exterior mirrors, smoked black surrounds, and roof racks, highlighting its off-road capabilities. Measuring 4706mm in length, 1967mm in width, and 1845mm in height, with a 2810mm wheelbase, the SUV offers ample space and comes with either 18-inch or 19-inch wheels, depending on the variant. The rear design closely mirrors the Shanhai T1 but features the “JETOUR” badge and a unique “Liberator” tail logo.

Jetour has gone the extra mile to cater to off-road enthusiasts by offering a range of official modification kits. The entry-level kit includes a custom side ladder, roof rack, and rear-mounted small backpack, while the advanced kit adds performance wheels and color-changing films in shades like rosemary purple, rhine green, and highway gray. For those seeking a complete transformation, the Highway Rider Kit (priced at 10,999 yuan) upgrades the front grille, bumpers, roof platform, wheels, side beams, and more, significantly enhancing the vehicle’s off-road capabilities.
A special Star Moon Goddess Edition is also available, featuring a fantasy purple double-layer ceramic topcoat with polarized fantasy technology. The interior of this edition comes with exclusive purple accents, dot wave patterns, and Star Moon Goddess embroidery. Buyers of this variant can enjoy exclusive benefits, including a 10,000 yuan discount on the purchase price, a 15,000 yuan replacement subsidy, and a lifetime warranty for the first non-operating owner.
Inside the Jetour Freedom

Inside, the Jetour Freedom offers three interior color schemes. The cabin is designed with straight lines, exuding a rugged yet modern vibe. A 15.6-inch central control screen, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, takes center stage, supporting CarPlay, Hicar car-machine interconnection, and four-zone voice control. Additional features include 50W air-cooled wireless charging, a SONY audio system, and L2+ driving assistance.

The cabin also includes a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a handle in front of the co-pilot for added stability during off-road driving. The Jetour Freedom offers 45 storage spaces throughout the interior, ensuring ample room for personal belongings. The “Shuyun seats” feature a 10-layer structure and boast a 99% UV isolation rate.
Comfort is a priority, with front seats offering heating, ventilation, and memory functions, while the rear seats feature adjustable backrests. The SUV also offers a host of optional accessories, such as a 10.33-inch co-pilot entertainment screen, a smart light-language backpack, a 60L backup storage box, and even a mosquito-repellent camping lamp.
Jetour Freedom Performance

Under the hood, the Jetour Freedom offers two engine options: a 1.5T and a 2.0T engine. The 1.5T variant delivers 135 kW of power and 290 N·m of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT). The more powerful 2.0T engine produces 187 kW and 390 N·m, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission (8AT). Both engines are available in a four-wheel-drive configuration, equipped with BorgWarner’s sixth-generation four-wheel-drive system and a “7+X” driving mode that intelligently adapts to road conditions.

All models come with a 70-liter fuel tank and a top speed of 180 km/h. The Freedom’s off-road credentials are further bolstered by an approach angle of 28°, a departure angle of 29°, a longitudinal passing angle of 19°, a ground clearance of 200mm, and a wading depth of 700mm.
Jetour Freedom Competition
The Jetour Freedom enters a niche but competitive segment, squaring off against models like the Haval Big Dog and Beijing BJ30. While the Haval Big Dog offers a 2.0T engine option, the Freedom and BJ30 have an edge in terms of size. With its comprehensive feature set and rugged design, the Freedom is poised to complement the Jetour Traveler and carve out a significant share of the boxy ICE SUV market.
We think the Jetour Freedom marks a strategic addition to Jetour’s lineup, reinforcing its position in the boxy SUV segment. With the Traveler and Shanhai T2 already achieving global sales of over 280,000 units, the Freedom is well-positioned to build on this success. Coupled with Jetour’s robust off-road ecosystem, including the Camping Alliance and Global Inns, as well as its mature modification offerings, the Freedom is set to make a strong impact.
