Chinese automaker, Changan officially unveiled its new midsize PHEV SUV, Qiyuan Q07, in China today. The new plug-in hybrid SUV is built on the company’s next-generation SDA all-electric platform. The Q07 is another model in the automaker’s new NEV series – Qiyuan after the Qiyuan E07. It is a 3-row SUV equipped with several smart features, including Changan’s self-developed Tianshu intelligent driving system, capable of high-speed and city-to-city NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) advanced autonomous driving. The chassis is equipped with the impressive CDC electromagnetic active suspension system, nicknamed the “Tianheng chassis.”

The Qiyuan Q07 measures 4,837mm in length, 1,920mm in width, and 1,690mm in height, with a 2,905mm wheelbase. The rear design has highly distinctive through-type taillights with a layered design on both sides, paired with a two-stage high-mounted brake light. The front fascia showcases a sleek, minimalist design with split headlights and a light bar with an illuminated Qiyuan logo. Some notable exterior components are the Q07’s chromed strips on the bumper and doors, hidden door handles, and a lidar above the windscreen.


Inside, the Q07 has a spacious cabin and sports a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel paired with a large central control screen. The straight lines of the center console create a clean, modern aesthetic. The 15.4-inch central display can pivot 15 degrees to the left or right, depending on the user’s position

In terms of features, the vehicle comes with heated, ventilated, and massage memory seats for both driver and front passenger, a zero-gravity front passenger seat, and a 12.8-inch entertainment screen for the front passenger. Other features include heated and ventilated rear seats, rear fold-down tables, a panoramic sunroof with 1.2 square meters of transparent area, power sunshades with physical buttons, CDC “magic carpet” suspension, heated steering wheel, 256-color ambient lighting, AR-HUD, external screen connectivity, and a 16-speaker stereo system.

Where it matters the most, the new vehicle will feature the Smart Blue Whale 3.0 power system. Specifically, it offers two hybrid systems built around 1.5T and 1.5 L engines and a 165kW electric motor. The 1.5T engine delivers a maximum power output of 110 kW, with a pure electric range of 215 kilometers and a combined range of over 1,400 kilometers. It boasts an impressive NEDC plug-in fuel consumption of just 3.9L/100km. This version uses a 31.73 kWh LFP battery and can charge from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

The 1.5L version offers a maximum engine power of 72 kW, with two pure electric range options of 145km or 215km. It is powered by a 21.5 kWh LFP battery. The new SUV has a top speed of 180 km/h.
