BYD’s Qin L DM-i has sold over 20,000 units within a month of its launch. The general manager of the sales department of BYD Dynasty, Lu Tian, made this announcement on the Chinese social media platform Weibo on July 3rd. The BYD Qin L DM-i is a mid-size sedan launched on May 28th, with a total of five models on sale, with prices ranging from 99,800 to 139,800 yuan. It is one of the first two models to use the automaker’s fifth-generation DM system, which consists of a 1.5L engine and an electric motor, with a maximum power of 74 kilowatts and a maximum torque of 126N.m.
Qin L DM-i is equipped with BYD’s blade battery, which is available in two versions:
- The low-spec version is equipped with a 10.08kW battery, a motor of 120kW/210Nm, and a pure electric range of 80km in CLTC mode.
- The high-spec version is equipped with a 15.874kW battery, with a maximum motor power of 160kW/260 Nm and an all-electric range of 120km in CLTC mode.
With DM5.0’s maximum thermal efficiency of 46.06%, the rate of fuel consumption of the Qin L DM-i is only 2.9L/100km in NEDC mode and 2100km when fully fueled and fully charged.
In terms of configuration, Qin L DM-i is equipped with DiPilot intelligent driving assistant system, which includes ACC adaptive cruise, ICC intelligent navigation, LDP lane departure suppression, LDW lane departure warning and other functions, with 3D panoramic transparent image and 4-probe rear reversing radar.
Sales are expected to increase further due to BYD’s competitive pricing. Qin L DM-i’s affordable pricing is thanks to its strong industrial chain and self-developed technology. Compared with Geely Galaxy L8, another HEV of the same price, Qin L DM-i surpassed the competition in 8 out of 13 assessment indicators showcasing BYD’s Qin L DM-i higher value for the price. Its front impact beam, chassis, passenger compartment, engine, gearbox, electronic control, fuel tank, and soft decoration proved superior to that of Galaxy L6. Industry experts predict the Qin L DM-i to become one of BYD’s main products.
To meet the strong demand, BYD has shortened the delivery cycle, ensuring consumers only wait 1-2 months to get their new vehicles.
