The 2025 Tank 300 is slated for its official launch on March 10, Great Wall Motors (GWM) announced. This mid-cycle refresh, while retaining its iconic exterior design, brings significant upgrades to the interior and an expanded powertrain lineup. The 2025 Tank 300 will offer diesel, gasoline, and Hi4-T plug-in hybrid variants, all paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission (9AT).
2025 Tank 300 Exterior
The new Tank 300 stays true to its rugged off-road roots with minimal exterior changes. The classic round headlights and boxy silhouette remain intact, preserving the vehicle’s hardcore aesthetic. However, buyers can now get a new Dune Beige paint option.

Dimensions remain unchanged, with the Tank 200 measuring 4760mm in length, 1930mm in width, and 1903mm in height, while riding on a 2750mm wheelbase. Both the gasoline and diesel variants of the 2025 Tank 300 come equipped with a front bumper-mounted winch as standard. Additionally, buyers can opt for electric side steps and a tow hook.
Inside the 2025 Tank 300

Inside, the 2025 Tank 300 sees some major changes, the most obvious being a larger central control screen. Â A new 14.6-inch floating central control screen is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, ensuring smoother and more responsive operation. The latest version of the Coffee OS 3 system promises to enhance user experience with improved connectivity and infotainment features, including a new 12-speaker stereo system.

The steering wheel has also been redesigned with a flat bottom shape, offering better ergonomics and a sportier feel. The gearshift has been replaced with a hand-held gear design, and a new dual 50W wireless charging pad has been integrated into the center console. Additionally, the driving mode and four-wheel-drive controls have been repositioned to front and rear levers, improving accessibility and ease of use.
2025 Tank 300 Engine Options/Performance

Under the hood, the 2025 Tank 300 offers a versatile range of powertrains to suit diverse driving needs. The gasoline variant continues to feature a 2.0T turbocharged engine, delivering 227 horsepower (167 kW) and 387 Nm of torque. For those seeking greater fuel efficiency, the diesel version comes equipped with a 2.4T turbocharged engine, producing 186 horsepower (137 kW) and a peak torque of 480 Nm.

The standout is the Hi4-T plug-in hybrid model, which combines a 2.0T engine with a P2 motor. This setup generates a combined output of 300 kW and a staggering 750 Nm of torque. With a pure electric range of 105 km and a fuel consumption rate of 8.8L/100km, the Hi4-T variant promises both performance and efficiency. Additionally, the car needs 40 mins to charge from 30-80%.
How Does The 2025 Tank 300 Fare Against Competition?
The 2025 Tank 300 continues to build on its reputation as a capable and stylish off-roader while embracing modern advancements in technology and powertrain diversity. With its enhanced interior, expanded engine options, and the introduction of a plug-in hybrid variant, the Tank 300 aims to attract a broader audience when it hits the market on March 10.

The Tank 300’s refresh arrives as global off-road SUV sales grow, driven by demand in China, the Middle East, and Australia. However, tariffs in markets like the EU (up to 38.1% on Chinese EVs) could hinder the Hi4-T’s adoption unless local production is scaled. Meanwhile, the diesel variant faces headwinds as brands like Mercedes-Benz phase out oil-burners.
Pricing remains unconfirmed, but the current Tank 300 retails for 199,800 yuan ($27,400) in China—cheaper than a base Defender 90. If maintained, this value proposition could bolster its appeal in cost-sensitive markets.
